Another awesome score I mixed for gifted composer/producer Ruth Mendelson.
“Our Promise: 100 years of the American Battle Monuments Commission” is a 56-minute documentary produced to celebrate a hundred years of commemoration and ABMC’s centennial.
The film was released and live streamed on March 3rd and will be airing around the World at many commemorative events in 2023. Also, I understand a multimedia surround version of the film will find its way into theaters associated with the many monument sites.
This is a pretty powerful film. Ruth really put some care into the writing of the many film segments and I believe the sonics support the evocative aspects of the film.
The Muse Argonne and Normandy segments were the most challenging for me to mix. Also, a surprise found in the hours of working on these segments was the triggering of so many fond memories of my dear late father in law John G. Economopoulos. John was a foot soldier positioned behind General Patton’s tanks as they inched their way through France. Watching the footage and listening to the narratives vividly brought back John’s telling of his personal experiences there in that fraught time.
A privilege to work this type of project that carries so much weight. -Steve
